We are currently seeking a Maritime Node Engineer to join our team on the Maritime Project, in partnership with the MOD. This role is ideal for someone who is experienced in managing multi-thread projects in multi-discipline environments, often outside of standard working hours. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of industry hardware products such as CISCO, DELL, APC, and be proficient with Microsoft and VMware technologies to deliver DII(MD) & OpNET solutions onboard Royal Navy & Royal Auxiliary Vessels.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage multi-thread projects in challenging maritime environments.
  • Build virtualised datacentres from baseline assured solutions with supporting documentation.
  • Handle Service / Incident Management using BMC Remedy.
  • Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including Switches, Routers, and Firewalls. CCNA/CCNP certification is desirable.
  • Administer Windows Server & Tools (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, Certs, PKI), Windows 10.
  • Implement and manage Microsoft technologies such as SQL, Exchange, Skype, SharePoint, WSUS.
  • Utilise VMware technologies including ESX & vCenter, NSX, Horizon (VDI), App Volumes.
  • Work with various technologies including KeePass, SolarWinds, Veeam, Trend.
  • Script using PowerShell and update firmware for various hardware.
  • Configure Thin Clients & Peripherals and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Engage in Linux systems, Bulk User Provisioning, Data Migration, Configuration Management, and Test and Assurance principles.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft & VMware Technologies.
  • Strong networking skills with experience in Switch/Router/Firewall configuration.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Security Clearance to SC level or above, willing to progress to DV.
  • Systems / Software Engineering background, including all aspects of the solution lifecycle.
  • Understanding of Low-level Engineering Documentation & Test Scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Technical knowledge of MOD IT systems, security policies, and enforcement.
