Key responsibilities of Mechanical Design Engineer:As a mechanical design engineer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing and developing machinery that meets industry codes standards within the nuclear sector. You'll work closely with other engineers to ensure designs meet all regulations while creating reliable systems that can perform under harsh conditions.Qualifications & Skills Required for Mechanical Design Engineer Role:
- Degree (or higher) qualification relevant to Mechanical Engineering
- Proven experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer
- Full design lifecycle experience, taking designs through the full design lifecycle, from concept through manufacture and commissioning
- Prior DFM experience including Fabrication, Machining, Welding etc
- Experience in the mechanical design of Machinery, Mechanical Handling Systems, Hydraulics, Heavy Fabricated Structures, Landing Gear, Complex Mechanical Assemblies, Bulk Handling Systems, Oil & Gas Engineered Systems etc for regulated applications, such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Heavy Engineering, Pharmaceutical, Mining, Process Industry, Aerospace etc
- Previous design experience using 3D CAD, FEA Analysis Software and Hand Calculations to validate designs (stress & structural calculations etc).
- Conversant with British and European Technical and Legislative standards
Additional skills required include good communication abilities both written and verbal; adept problem-solving capabilities; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining attention-to-detail throughout each project phase.Salary ExpectationsThe position offers a salary up to £40,500 plus additional benefits such as ongoing training opportunities and support from experienced professionals and the Mechanical Design Engineer role is commutable from Warrington, Liverpool, Preston, Manchester, Bolton, Widnes, Atherton, Eccles, Sale, Northwich, Salford, Crewe, Chester, Runcorn, Bolton, Wigan & St Helens and my client also operates a hybrid & flexible working policy for its Engineers.
