We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team for the decommissioning of an industrial facility in Warrington. The successful candidate will be responsible for the dismantling, maintenance, and safe removal of mechanical systems and equipment. The role involves working in a heavy industrial environment and ensuring that all activities are carried out in compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dismantling and Removal: Disassemble and remove mechanical equipment and systems (e.g., pumps, compressors, conveyors, furnaces) as part of the decommissioning process.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform necessary maintenance tasks on machinery to ensure safe and efficient decommissioning.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to strict health and safety regulations, including wearing proper PPE and participating in safety briefings.
  • Equipment Inspection: Conduct inspections to identify any mechanical faults or hazards that could impact the decommissioning process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other decommissioning teams (electrical, civil) to coordinate activities and ensure smooth workflows.
  • Waste Management: Assist in the management and disposal of mechanical waste materials, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Key Requirements:
  • Experience: As a Mechanical Fitter, preferably in decommissioning or in heavy industrial environments such as mining, smelting, or manufacturing.
  • Qualifications:
    • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting.
    • Relevant decommissioning or dismantling qualifications (preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in using a wide range of hand and power tools.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
    • Capable of handling heavy loads and working in challenging physical conditions.
  • Certifications:
    • Valid CSCS card or equivalent.
    • Confined Space and Working at Heights certifications (preferred).
  • Availability: Day shifts only Monday to Friday
