A Warrington SEMH school is in need of a Social, Emotional Mental Health Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting children/young adults with Mental Health difficulties. This Ofsted-rated 'Good' Special School caters for young people between the ages of 8 and 16.
This environment gives students the opportunity to make choices in a non-threatening environment using positive reinforcement and the building of solid trusting relationships to encourage positive progress. This Special School has both a formal and informal curriculum to support the needs of their pupils. The day is carefully planned, as there is a balance of learning and teaching, affection and structure within a home-like atmosphere. There's an emphasis on emotional growth, promoting security, routines, clear boundaries and carefully planned, repetitive learning opportunities.
The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant to start on February 24th 2025 on a full-time, long-term basis.
The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:
- Previous experience working with children with Social, Emotional Mental Health or SEN
- Sound knowledge surrounding behavioural challenges and communication methods
- Team Teach (desirable)
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced DBS check on the update service, or be prepared to undertake a new disclosure (cost of DBS is refunded after working 20 days)
- A full, 10-year career history and be able to provide a minimum of 2 references
