Job Title: Project Manager
Salary: £70,000 - £95,000
Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset
We are seeking an enthusiastic Project Manager with a can-do attitude to support our project within the new turbine hall at Hinkley Point C Nuclear New Build site in Somerset. This exciting role involves overseeing electrical installations, cable pulling, prefabrication, and instrumentation installation on a high-profile infrastructure project.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Project Director, the Project Manager will provide leadership to site teams, ensuring effective scheduling, workface planning, coordination, and supervision. The role also involves cost control, safety management, and productivity oversight, ensuring seamless site installations and associated cabling. As a key figure, you will collaborate with contractors, clients, and company stakeholders to drive project success.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a safety-first culture , ensuring all work complies with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Provide safety training and guidance to teams.
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Manage and coordinate construction teams, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Assign tasks, assess competency, and provide training and mentorship.
- Foster a positive work environment, ensuring adherence to project policies and procedures.
- Address and resolve workforce issues while maintaining productivity and morale.
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Oversee project schedules, work packages, and daily/weekly planning to meet milestones.
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, working closely with other trades and contractors.
- Monitor progress and adjust work plans as needed.
Quality Control
- Ensure all work meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Review inspection reports and address any deficiencies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and workmanship.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation, including progress reports, material requisitions, and quality control records.
- Provide regular updates on team performance, work progress, and resource requirements.
- Support hiring decisions, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
Skills & Experience Required:
Qualifications:
- Mechanical / Electrical Degree, HND / HNC, or equivalent experience.
- Professional registration (Chartered or Member) is desirable.
- CILM training completed.
Certifications:
- CSCS Managers & Professionals or CCNSG.
- IOSH / NEBOSH certification (desirable).
- BPSS Security Vetting (desirable).
Experience & Knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within construction and infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of project scope, scheduling, and planning.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts, health & safety regulations, and construction trade practices.
- Familiarity with administrative tools, quality control procedures, and workforce management.
