The Project

As a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role within the senior commercial team on the civil engineering sector, managing various earthworks, drainage, coastal defence and infrastructure improvement projects across the North West with values between 200k - 6.8m. Initially, as the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide expert advice on financial matters and maintain accurate project documentation throughout the lifecycle of the projects.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;

  • RICS / CIOB Membership (desirable but not essential)
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering or equivalent

It is also essential that you hold the experience below;

  • Proven history of working on civils, earthworks, drainage, demolition, coastal defense or infrastructure improvements projects with values between 200k - 6.8m
  • Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working in a Quantity Surveying position within the civil engineering sector

Duties

  • Procurement
  • Reporting regularly to the Director
  • Evaluation of allocated tender provisions
  • Compiling material usage and reconciliation reports
  • Evaluate and compare offers from contractors and suppliers
  • Assess the cost-effectiveness of different design alternatives
  • Assess and approve progress payments to contractors and suppliers
  • Apply efficient and dependable cost control techniques and strategies
  • Monitor cash flow and provide stakeholders with regular financial updates
  • Set up systems for cost reporting to efficiently track and control project expenses
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior quantity surveyors and team members
  • Conduct negotiations and resolve conflicts to achieve mutually beneficial solutions
  • Ensure adherence to applicable industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Conduct detailed cost analyses and thorough feasibility studies for proposed projects
  • Keep accurate and current records of all financial transactions and project documentation
  • Manage and oversee project expenditures, ensuring they align with budgetary constraints
  • Participate in professional development initiatives to improve skills and expand knowledge
  • Participate in project meetings, providing expert advice and insights on cost-related issues
  • Supervise the financial effects of design modifications and negotiate any necessary revisions
  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Develop cost plans and forecasts to ensure effective budget management across the project lifecycle
  • Track project costs and financial risks, implementing strategies to address and mitigate potential issues
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and budgets for the project and integrate them into the planning phase
  • Negotiate and finalize contract terms with contractors and suppliers to ensure they align with project specifications and budgetary limits
  • Guarantee adherence to all contract terms, conditions, and specifications throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations
  • Ensure all financial matters are resolved and finalized, with detailed documentation kept for a comprehensive and thorough project closure
