Reed Accountancy is working exclusively with the British Motor Museum - an institution renowned for celebrating and preserving automotive heritage - to secure a dedicated Finance Officer. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the financial management of conferencing, catering, and café operations within a vibrant environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prepare and provide timely and accurate monthly P&Ls to managers across various departments including Conferencing, Catering, Café, Gift Shop, and Archive.
  • Conduct precise monthly food and liquor cost of sales calculations using detailed invoice and stocktake data.
  • Manage the reallocation of food costs and income streams efficiently, maintaining notional cost reports.
  • Update and prepare monthly stocktake sheets and ensure accurate input for effective stock control and cost of sales calculations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Kitchen Team to gather essential data for food costing, stock updates, and purchase orders.
  • Handle catering cashbooks and perform meticulous monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Process nominal ledger journals, including accruals, adjustments, and monthly nominal prepayment journals.
  • Ensure thorough reconciliations of control, prepayment, deferred income, and accrual accounts, and manage nominal ledger cumulative balances.
  • Set up and adjust products on tills for all food and drink outlets and ensure reconciliation of supplier statements at month and year-end.
  • Assist the Finance Team with the annual external audit and complete monthly payment processing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a finance department.
  • AAT Level 4 qualified or equivalent highly desirable. 
  • Exceptional finance and administrative skills with a strong focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a clear, confident communicator.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, with a strong initiative.
  • Proficient in MS Excel.
