About the role

This role will sit within the Portfolio office for Strategic Energy Planning (SEP) and will lead the Project Management Office for one of the SEP programmes. The post holder will be allocated to a programme within SEP where they will be responsible for all aspects of project management. This will include Planning, Risks, Dependencies, Reporting etc. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience of working in a variety of different projects and be prepared to be flexible with work assignments

Key Accountabilities

  • Setting up a new PMO
  • Leadership, setting direction for the PMO
  • Creating and managing programme plans across various planning tools (Microsoft Project, POL, etc)
  • Build and maintain relationships with SEP programme, ensuring requirements are met
  • Work with project team to track the project plan
  • Take accountability of the cadence of programme and project governance
  • Work collaboratively with other SEP PMO and PMO Analysts to ensure consistency of working and understanding of current state
  • Report status through SEP governance ensuring alignment around issues and resolutions
  • Ensure a standard governance process is set across projects and programmes around performance, risk, dependencies and cost
  • Drive RAID management across SEP workstreams
  • Work with Finance to ensure the project/ Programme finance reporting is fit for purpose

  • Experience of building and leading a new project office
  • Establish, maintain and control Project Plans with input of SMEs
  • Knowledge / awareness of the range of roles performed by the PMO
  • Strong background in process and performance improvement
  • Leadership of multiple teams
  • Experience of matrix management of resources
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders to understand their requirements and set clear expectations
