We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their committed team.

Role Overview:

As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within the school. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with these students to help them achieve their educational goals and develop essential social and communication skills. You will work under the guidance of the SEN Coordinator and classroom teachers to implement individualised learning plans and provide tailored support.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD.
Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and social interactions.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
Adapt learning materials to meet the individual needs of students.
Support students during transitions and throughout the school day.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (SEN).
Strong understanding of ASD and effective support strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students.

Desirable:

Experience working within a school setting.
Knowledge of various communication methods such as PECS or Makaton.
Additional training or certifications related to autism support.
