We’re supporting our client, a leading medical equipment manufacturer based in Waterlooville, who are looking for a Mould Development Technician to join their growing team. The successful Mould Development Technician will have experience of Injection Mould machine operations, tool changes and overseeing technicians.

As Senior Development Technician you will assist with the drive to world class manufacturing within the pharmaceutical industry, always identifying ways to ensure continuous improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring that all tools across the organisation are validated to the IQ/QQ/PQ required standards. You will work collaboratively across production and other business units, acting as a key driver in the effectiveness and efficiency in the development of our company’s manufactured products, working closely with our Quality Assurance and Metrology department to deliver approvals in a timely manager.

Responsibilities for Mould Development Technician:

  • Responsible for carrying out mould tool changes across the organisation
  • Provide appropriate training to the technicians
  • Responsible for troubleshooting tooling and machinery defects
  • Responsible for driving the OEE system via SMED and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate plant servicing and repair as required.
  • Responsible for the process development of tooling projects.
  • Support engineers in project work, running and report trials.
  • Produce tooling reports and work directly with toolmakers to resolve any issues identified.
  • Attend tool trials off site at sub-contractors and toolmakers
  • Collaborate with and provide continual support to the production line, ensuring the needs of managers across the organisation are continuously met.

About You:

  • You will have significant technical experience of injection moulding and mould tool setting, ideally in a medical or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Minimum RJG Master Mould 1 certification or equivalent.
  • Experience of setting up new processes for cold runner and hot runner tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing to BS EN ISO 9001 and cGMP standards
  • You will be aware of BS EN ISO 14644 clean room requirements.
  • Knowledge of both 2D & 3D CAD (ideally Solidworks)
  • Pharmaceutical qualification understanding- IQ/OQ/PQ
  • Experience of Good Manufacturing Practice GMP
