Our client is seeking a full-time Credit Controller to join their busy accounts team based in Watford. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a variety of responsibilities, from creating monthly accounts and ensuring financial compliance, to preparing budgets and assisting with external audits. The successful candidate will have the chance to make a significant impact within the company, presenting information at board meetings and providing reports to the Head of Finance and Managing Director.

What you'll do:

As a Credit Controller, you will play a crucial role within our client's busy accounts team. Your primary responsibility will be creating monthly accounts from your allocated region. You will also process month-end journals, accrivals, and prepayments while ensuring that balance sheet reconciliations are completed each month. Your keen eye for detail will enable you to analyse and report on discrepancies, maintaining the highest level of accuracy. You will ensure financial compliance with HMRC and other regulatory bodies while also preparing budgets and reforecasts. Your role will extend to assisting in preparations for annual external audits. Additionally, you will provide ad-hoc reporting both internally and externally.

  • Create the monthly accounts from relevant region as allocated (P&L, Balance Sheet and KPIs): sales ledger, purchase ledger, nominal ledger, accounts reconciliation.
  • Process month end journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed, addressing any issues.
  • Analyse and report on discrepancies, ensuring 100% accuracy and integrity of information.
  • Ensure financial compliance with HMRC and other regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare budgets and reforecast.
  • Assist in preparation for annual external audit, dealing with auditors in person.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting both internally and externally.
  • Monthly reports to the Head of Finance and MD of the company with suggested improvements on budget deviations.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Credit Controller position brings a wealth of experience in Management and Financial Accounting. Your effective communication skills will allow you to liaise with various stakeholders effectively. A proactive approach to work is essential in this role, as is the ability to lead by example. You should be able to support your accounting team as required. Computer literacy in all MS Office applications is necessary, while previous working knowledge in SAP would be advantageous. Relevant experience within a similar environment is essential for this role.
