My client is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join their dedicated HR team. This role is crucial in ensuring that all people managers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage employee relations effectively within their teams, fostering a positive working environment where staff can thrive. You will work under the guidance of the Head of OD & Engagement to support and influence managers, helping to pre-empt and respond to issues in alignment with our values and ethos.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support line managers in handling a wide range of casework including absence management, performance issues, disciplinary and grievance matters, and more.
  • Provide advice on and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Develop and maintain plans to manage absence effectively across the organisation.
  • Coach and train managers on all aspects of employee relations through one-on-one meetings, training sessions, and briefings.
  • Stay updated on employment law and best practices, ensuring the organisation remains compliant.
  • Work closely with external partners to address specific employee relations issues.
  • Promote and integrate our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion within all employee relations practices.
  • Assist with other HR duties as required, including change management, data gathering, and general HR advisory.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in an employee relations role, preferably within a similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and hands-on experience with HR practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of handling sensitive situations with diplomacy.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in coaching and training managers.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and good data management practices, ensuring compliance with GDPR.
