Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Family Paralegal to handle a varied caseload, with a particular focus on domestic abuse or private child matters. As a fee-earning paralegal, you will play a key role in supporting the department while managing a caseload with the guidance of experienced solicitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of family law matters, including domestic abuse and private children’s issues.
  • Draft legal documents such as statements, court applications, and correspondence.
  • Liaise with clients, providing them with expert legal advice and assistance.
  • Assist solicitors in preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings.
  • Conduct legal research and keep up to date with current family law legislation.
  • Attend clients and other parties where required, supporting the smooth progression of cases.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and growth of the family law department.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience as a Family Paralegal with a focus on domestic abuse or private child matters.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong understanding of family law, particularly in the areas of domestic abuse and private children matters.
  • Client-focused with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Ability to remain calm and empathetic under pressure.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in fee-earning or billing within a family law context.
  • Knowledge of the Family Court system and procedures.
