Major Recruitment is working alongside a global switchgear and power Systems provider. They specialise in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of electrical switchgear and distribution systems, critical power systems and intelligent power monitoring.
We are looking to speak to Buyers based in the Watford area for a full-time on-site role
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for placing orders with suppliers to allow for timely delivery, to facilitate production of customer orders and to maintain stock levels where appropriate. You will need to source and negotiate the best market price for the products and ensure it arrive at the right cost and at the right time.
Key Responsibilities of a Buyer
- Ensure relevant paperwork and a customer credit line is in place prior to purchasing high value/customer specific products.
- Collaborate with production management to ensure equipment is delivered 'just in time' to ensure no gaps in production and minimal inventory holding/work in progress.
- Negotiate pricing/terms with suppliers, as necessary.
- Engage with suppliers on new product offerings and facilitate demonstrations for engineering staff.
- Review supplier purchase orders and consult with them over timely delivery as required.
- Consult with and build relationships with suppliers.
- Maintain list of accredited suppliers, add to where required and remove where necessary. In addition, consult with suppliers on completion/update of supplier accreditation packs.
- Liaison with finance function to ensure smooth management of suppliers and supply chain.
- Liaison with goods inwards and stores process
- Any additional projects or duties as management may at times require.
Skills required to be a successful Buyer
- Knowledge of electrical equipment, switchgear, panel boards, distribution boards
- Previous experience in purchasing
- Can organise, prioritise, and have an initiative-taking approach to tasks.
- Have excellent communication and relationship building skills?
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Can proactively identify areas where current processes are flawed and find ways to address them.
- It can perform well under pressure and deliver to deadlines.
- Shows flexibility and can adapt to the needs and demands of different groups, situations, and internal stakeholders.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Effective communication skills
- IT literacy - particularly Microsoft Office.
Working Hours
- 8am-5pm Monday to Friday
