SEN LSA - Watford Full Time - ASAP - £105-120

Veritas are currently working closely with a secondary school in Watford who are looking to appoint 2 experienced SEN LSA's immediately. Our school boasts a great Ofsted report, with strong ties to the local community and a cohort of ambitious, curious and strong-willed pupils.

Role Expectations:

  • Supporting students with SEN: Assist students with special educational needs in accessing the curriculum, both in class and through one-to-one or small group interventions.
  • Personalized learning support: Adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the specific learning needs of individual students, as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) or class teacher.
  • Promoting inclusion: Help integrate students with SEN into mainstream classes, ensuring they feel included and able to participate.
  • Monitoring progress: Assist in assessing and tracking the academic and social progress of students with SEN, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Managing behaviour: Support students in managing their behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy, using de-escalation techniques if needed.
  • Encouraging independence: Foster independence in students with SEN by encouraging them to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour.
  • Emotional and social support: Provide pastoral care and emotional support to students who may struggle with confidence, self-esteem, or social interaction.
  • Classroom preparation: Help with setting up learning activities, preparing resources, and organizing the learning environment to suit the needs of SEN students.
  • Collaboration with staff: Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and other LSAs to share information and strategies to support SEN students effectively.
  • Liaising with parents and external agencies: Communicate with parents, carers, and external professionals (e.g., educational psychologists, speech therapists) under the guidance of the SENCO to provide a holistic approach to student support.
  • Administrative tasks: Maintain accurate records of student progress, intervention sessions, and relevant paperwork as required by the SEN department.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience as an LSA or similar role with a UK secondary school
  • Experience working within SEN department desired
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
