Our Client a major rail contractor is seeking two experienced Freelance General Foremen to join their team for the construction of two brand-new railway station builds in Birmingham. These high-profile projects form a crucial part of the region's rail infrastructure upgrades, offering an exciting opportunity for skilled professionals to play a key role in their successful delivery.
Role Overview:As a General Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing daily site operations, ensuring that all work is carried out safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the Site Manager and Project Engineers, you will play a critical role in coordinating the workforce, liaising with subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with rail industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:?? Oversee and manage site operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day running of works.?? Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and direct workforce, ensuring productivity and efficiency.?? Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, actively promoting a strong safety culture on-site.?? Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to ensure workforce awareness of safety standards.?? Monitor project progress, identifying potential risks, delays, and issues, and proactively implementing solutions.?? Liaise with the Site Manager, Engineers, and Project Teams to ensure alignment with project specifications and timelines.?? Maintain site records, including progress reports, material deliveries, and workforce attendance.?? Assist with planning and sequencing of work activities to optimise resources and efficiency.?? Ensure that all works meet industry quality standards and specifications, working to resolve any non-conformances.
Requirements & Qualifications:?? Proven experience as a General Foreman within the rail or heavy civil engineering sectors.?? Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.?? Previous experience working on railway station builds, platforms, and structures is highly desirable.?? A valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification is essential.?? SMSTS or SSSTS certification is required.?? Excellent knowledge of health & safety regulations and rail industry compliance.?? Experience in coordinating multiple subcontractors and ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.?? Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.?? A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
