We are looking for a proactive and reliable General Operative to join dynamic team. Job Purpose:The purpose of the General Operative role is to be a multi-skilled contributor within Warehousing and Production areas. Primarily, the role will involve working within the disassembly, assembly, or supply chain support areas of the business to meet customer needs. You will play an essential role in ensuring targets are met and exceeded wherever possible.

Key Responsibilities:

Production:

  • Perform repetitive bench or line disassembly, renewal, and/or assembly operations on products such as Manual Steering Racks, Power Steering Racks, Power Steering Pumps, or Electric Steering Racks.

  • Complete assigned work based on Standard Work documents, Bills of Material, ICP (I Compare Part) samples, or other provided documents.

  • Maintain and complete TPM checklists, target sheets, or other required documents.

  • Use hand tools (e.g., drills, spanners, air tools) to disassemble, assemble, and fasten parts together.

  • Operate machines to perform disassembly, washing, or testing operations on the assembly line.

  • Work at different workstations or departments as required by production needs.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with company and quality policies.

  • Share knowledge and best practices with team members and assist in training new starters when required.

Supply Chain:

  • Accurately pick products from designated locations using provided picking lists.

  • Track and maintain day-to-day stock issues and inventory counts, escalating any discrepancies to the Supervisor/Team Leader.

  • Ensure that all items picked or packed are clearly identifiable and meet the correct quality or data sheet standards.

  • Adhere to the company’s quality policies to ensure "Right First Time" quality is achieved.

  • Handle goods carefully when placing them into holding or stock locations.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working area for yourself and those around you.

  • Perform inventory counts as per stock checking procedures.

  • If trained, operate the JLG or FLT/Picker, ensuring all safety checks are completed in accordance with training and legal compliance.

  • Achieve and exceed daily targets set by the Team Leader/Supervisor.

  • Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues and assist in the training of new starters.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Good general education, including Maths and English.

  • Good level of written and spoken English.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment (warehousing or assembly) is advantageous but not essential.

  • Good dexterity is essential.

  • Previous experience with hand tools (e.g., drills, spanners, and air tools) is required.

  • A current FLT/Picker licence is desirable but not mandatory.
