JOB PURPOSE:

To conduct research and development into new products in line with business needs, ensuring business growth and the maximisation of competitiveness in the market place.

To ensure that all new products introduced has the relevant documentation and tooling to produce safe & repeatable Quality product.

Principle area of responsibility:

Is to increase the amount of new steering products introduced.

To ensure & secure the current knowledge base on steering product.

To ensure the growth of knowledge base on steering product.

To seek ways in which to resolve problems.

To strive to achieve best in class in any in remanufacturing products worldwide.

To be a point of contact for other research and development site within the group.

Introduce new documents for the control of R&D & NPI.

To ensure agreed targets are achieved.

To ensure all H&S rules are adhered to.

To ensure all R&D / NPI documentation is keep up to date.

Specific duties:

Dismantling and reverse engineering of steering product.

Identification of components and development and maintenance of Bills of Materials within our production system

Development and up keeping of technical documentation

Ability to evaluate and set test requirements

Identify requirements for tooling for the production of new part numbers, work with Engineers and machinists to produce tooling.

Maintains component sample inventory and related databases

Maintains original equipment sample library

Raw Material/Component inspection and approval for new products

Consolidates research component and finished goods

Consolidation of new part numbers.

Knowledge of AutoCAD

Research new types of steering system.

Training on new product introduced.

Provide technical support in the areas of production.

Support Quality problem solving

Raise Non-conformity alert

Support internal improvement meetings

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

This role requires people who can organise and prioritise their own and others work and be flexible in approach to meet company requirements.

The role also requires someone with good mechanical skills from either a mechanical or automotive background. Experience of the products is essential.

The job holder will be PC literate, able to communicate to all levels within the company and have hydraulic engineering experience.
