Production Planner / Operations Support

Monday - Thursday 7:00am - 4:00pm & Friday 8:00am - 1:00pm

For 50 years my client has been at the forefront of the EDM industry due to the unsurpassed quality of its graphite and the excellence of its "state-of-the-art" machine shop. Due to the continued expansion, they are now looking for an Operations Support individual to join their team and contribute to their success.

Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Planner / Operations Support to join my client’s team. Supporting the team in the planning and smooth running of production processes, you will be required to detail the materials and machines to be used, the labour to be used, the time required to do the job, and the quality standards to be met. You will be mainly office based, with regular touchpoints with the shopfloor. The shopfloor presence will enable you to monitor throughput and discuss problems, such as a shortage of staff or materials and machinery breakdowns. Candidates must be good communicators, flexible with an excellent work ethic, and be prepared to work hard in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Detail the necessary production equipment, raw materials (building BOM’s) and labour needs for production.
  • Develop and maintain detailed production plans and schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure that production plans align with company goals for efficiency, cost control, and quality.
  • Adjust plans as necessary in response to changes in demand, production issues, or supply chain disruptions
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to ensure that production requirements are met
  • Ensure that production activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies
  • Work closely with sales, procurement, engineering, and quality control teams to align production plans with overall business objectives and to address any issues, setbacks, or quality control concerns with the production process.
  • Support the Purchasing team to anticipate raw material demands.
  • This position typically operates in an office environment within a manufacturing facility.
  • The role may require occasional visits to the production floor and interaction with production staff.
  • Submit reports on throughput
  • Facilitate contract review meeting, discussing new production methods or ways to reduce production costs and increase company profits, as well as taking notes and assigning tasks
  • Prepare, complete and file production paperwork in line with ISO 9001 quality procedures
  • Other process administrative tasks relating to production planning and general operations
  • Other production and / or administrative related tasks may be introduced once settled

Experience:

  • Will need a minimum of 2 years of experience in production planning within the relevant industry
  • Proficiency in production planning software
  • Will need great customer service and sales skills
  • A technical, engineering or operations background would be desirable
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
