SEN Teaching Assistants (Level 2 & 3) - Full-Time Role in Wednesbury
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a fulfilling role in a specialist school setting? Do you have a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!
Aspire is currently seeking dedicated Level 2 or Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistants to join well-established SEN schools in the West Midlands. This role is ideal for individuals committed to making a difference in the lives of children with Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Sensory Processing Disorders.
Please Note: A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is essential for this role. Applications without this qualification will not be considered.
Role & Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of additional learning needs.
* Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored learning plans to support each child's progress.
* Use a variety of specialist strategies, including PECS, Makaton, sensory techniques, and de-escalation methods (training can be provided).
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
* Support children with personal care needs where required (training provided).
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to enhance student development.
* Help children build independence, confidence, and social skills.
Requirements:
To be considered, you must have:
* A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (mandatory)
* Experience working in an SEN school or specialist setting
* A strong understanding of Autism, SEMH, PMLD, MLD, and Sensory Processing Disorders
* The ability to use PECS, Makaton, sensory strategies, or de-escalation techniques (training available)
* A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs
* A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
