Automotive Workshop Manager

100% Site Based, Northampton

Full-time Permanent, Monday to Friday, 40-Hours Per Week, Day Shifts

40,000 to 60,000 (based on relevant experience)

Overview
We are seeking a Workshop Manager to oversee our workshop operations and ensure the smooth running of day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and excellent customer service skills.

You must be able to draw on your extensive experience in automotive management, and main working partnerships with main dealerships, and premium manufacturers.

Responsibilities
- Manage workshop staff and delegate tasks effectively.
- Maintain workshop equipment and perform repairs when necessary.
- Assemble and weld components as needed.
- Provide guidance on technical issues and read schematics.
- Handle customer inquiries and provide exceptional service.
- Oversee inventory management and order supplies when required.

The ideal candidate is someone currently working as a Manager in a retail dealership of well-known automotive brands, possessing proven leadership skills, retail sales, managing skilled technicians, overseeing relevant metrics and operational tasks.

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in Automotive Management, specifically within main dealerships and premium car manufacturers.
  • Understanding of annualised (fully flexible) hours and proven confidence in managing staff rosters.
  • Firm but fair when making scheduling decisions to ensure operational requirements are met effectively.
  • Proficient in mechanical knowledge with the ability to repair equipment.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and power tools.
  • Capable of heavy lifting as needed.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Eligible to work in the UK full-time.
  • Fluently communicate in English, verbal and written.

Preferred Requirement:

University degree or equivalent educational background in automotive management.
