We are seeking a Yard Operative to join our team at our Wollaston depot. This role involves picking and preparing equipment, loading and unloading deliveries, and maintaining stock levels. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is self-motivated and can work well under pressure.
Day-to-day of the role:- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles by hand or with a forklift.
- Sorting and grading stock.
- Conducting general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Picking and preparing loads for dispatch.
- Ensuring materials are disposed of correctly.
- Adhering to health and safety practices, using supplied Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately.
- Flexibility to work in other areas of the depot as required.
- Experience in a yard environment is preferred.
- Slinger/signaller ticket is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in using your hands and good at thinking and reasoning.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required, able to understand and complete picklists.
- No specific IT skills required.
- No management experience required; training will be provided with opportunities for progression.
