The Opportunity

Seymour John is working exclusively with an established client, who are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their expanding team. Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the Heath, Safety and Environmental strategy across the business.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute emergency response plans, evacuation strategies, and crisis management protocols.
  • Organise regular training sessions to ensure all staff are equipped to handle emergencies effectively.
  • Lead ongoing safety training programs, ensuring staff are educated on identifying hazards and responding to emergencies.
  • Regularly evaluate workplace hazards and risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create strategies that minimize potential risks, ensuring that risk assessments are continuously updated.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents.
  • Analyse incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive actions, while maintaining accurate reports and presenting findings to management.
  • Carry out frequent inspections of workspaces, equipment, and facilities to ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Address non-compliance issues promptly, ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
  • Develop and revise health and safety policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement environmental action plans and strategies aimed at fostering corporate sustainability.
  • Oversee sustainable procurement and manage pollution control, waste management, recycling, and other conservation efforts.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation and raise awareness of environmental concerns across all levels of the company.
  • Ensure proper management and use of PPE by all employees, providing education on the necessity and correct usage of protective gear.
  • Promote workplace well-being through health initiatives addressing both physical and mental wellness.
  • Identify and address health concerns affecting employees, fostering a healthier work environment.
  • Uphold and enforce compliance with current and upcoming Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, and HR policies.
  • Act on reasonable instructions from other department heads and directors.
