Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide face-to-face advice and support to customers at the counter, focusing on Council Tax, Benefits, and Non-Domestic Rates.
  • Engage with and support vulnerable customers, offering tailored assistance based on their specific needs.
  • Promote and guide customers towards using the Council’s online services, enhancing digital engagement.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and customer service processes.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks, ensure accurate data entry, and manage customer information with strict adherence to data protection regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in customer service.
  • Previous knowledge of a local authority would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Competency in IT systems and familiarity with digital services.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to empathise with customers.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive situations professionally.
  • Educated to at least GCSE level with grades C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
