Head of Bids & Proposals

We are seeking a Head of Bids & Proposals to lead and be accountable for the pipeline of organisational growth through both procured and non-procured opportunities. This role is an integral part of the Commercial Directorate and offers a wide, exciting, and varied scope of work. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of our growth strategy, enhancing our service offerings, and identifying new market opportunities.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead and coordinate multi-million-pound bid submissions, maintaining control and ownership of all bidding opportunities.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate responses to bids and proposals, providing Executive and Board level assurance.
  • Understand and support the development of Procurement policies/frameworks to align with organisational impacts.
  • Create cohesive bid narratives with SME support, ensuring clarity in service specifications and organisational vision.
  • Lead proposal strategies and service design workshops to meet commissioner requirements and ensure operational delivery and financial viability.
  • Line manage and motivate the Business Development and Commercial teams, ensuring effective resource allocation to deliver against the pipeline.
  • Present bid and proposal information to SMEs and senior leaders, and support the creation of commercial offers that are deliverable and scalable.
  • Regularly review and improve bid processes and maintain up-to-date bid libraries.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in multi-million-pound bid development and management.
  • NHS / Healthcare market experience (essential)
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing a team.
  • Degree level education or equivalent, including APMP qualification.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects, and meet tight deadlines.
