People Shared Services Manager

My client is looking for a People Shared Services Manager to lead their Shared Services function within a busy and engaged People team. The successful candidate will support the People Advisors, People Business Partners, and the wider HR Team in delivering high-quality HR advice and workforce information/analysis. This role is pivotal in developing and providing an effective and efficient Operational HR service, ensuring a high standard of customer service.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Manage and develop the People Shared Services function, ensuring SLA’s and KPI’s are met.
  • Develop, support, and manage a team of three, focusing on their ongoing learning and development.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve the People Service experience through process and procedure design.
  • Partner with internal HR, Payroll, Recruitment, Rota, and Communications teams to resolve queries and ensure timely communication.
  • Collaborate with the HR Systems Manager for HRIS maintenance and development.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR queries, escalating second-line queries as needed.
  • Provide professional advice and support on employee relations matters.
  • Assist in the review and development of policies and SOPs.
  • Generate workforce performance reports and provide feedback to managers.
  • Maintain accurate HR activity reporting and handle ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Build and maintain relationships with managers to promote HR best practice.
  • Support change management programmes and corporate induction events.
  • Maintain and update electronic employee files in line with GDPR.
  • Ensure compliance checks are maintained and escalated appropriately.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to HR policy and process.
  • Support employee relations meetings, including note-taking as required.
  • Partner with the Engagement and Wellbeing Business Partner to develop a robust exit process.
  • Provide training to managers and staff as required.
  • Attend meetings and undertake minutes as needed.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects and any other tasks as required by the business.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 3+ years within a fast-paced Shared Services Function.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • GCSE level English and Maths.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong IT proficiency, especially in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Experience with HR Systems.
  • Commitment to the core values of the organisation.
Desirable:
  • CIPD qualification.
  • Good grasp of employment law and HR best practice.
