SEMH Teaching Assistant Needed for Specialist SEMH School in Brent

A specialist school in the Brent area, dedicated to supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, is seeking an experienced SEMHTeaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis.

The Role

This school is looking for a highly skilled HLTA with experience working with pupils with complex needs, particularly in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder (A.S.D.) and SEMH. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students in developing both their academic and social-emotional skills, helping them prepare for their transition to secondary education. Your role will include providing interventions and covering classes across the school, as well as taking responsibility for agreed learning activities both in and outside of the classroom, under the supervision of the class teacher.

The school is particularly keen to find candidates who have experience supporting pupils with SEMH or complex emotional and behavioural needs. Restraint training such as PRICE or de-escalation training is desirable but not essential, as the school will provide training for successful candidates.

Requirements

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH and behavioural needs is essential.
