We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to cover maternity leave at a special educational needs (SEN) school. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for teaching children with severe learning difficulties and autism. The successful candidate will have experience in using the Total Communication Approach and teaching children with high sensory needs.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Delivering tailored education plans to meet the individual needs of students with severe learning difficulties and autism.
  • Implementing the Total Communication Approach to support studentsā€™ understanding and expression.
  • Creating a supportive and accessible learning environment that caters to high sensory needs.
  • Collaborating with other staff members to plan and coordinate lessons.
  • Regularly assessing and recording studentsā€™ progress, adapting teaching methods to suit their needs.
  • Engaging with parents and guardians to discuss their childā€™s development and needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Proven SEN experience, particularly in teaching children with severe learning difficulties and autism.
  • Familiarity with the Total Communication Approach.
  • Experience in addressing high sensory needs in an educational setting.
  • Strong commitment to inclusive education practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
