Role Purpose The role will be accountable for: • Ensure debtors are managed appropriately and bad debt is kept to a minimum using effective credit control and debt management practices; ensure agreed cash collection targets are met.• Resolve complex queries and issues through contact with customers, logistics, account managers and internal stakeholders - including the gathering of information and paperwork, and investigation into discrepancies.• Run regular debt reports for the team to analyse outstanding debt within portfolio and populate with detailed information relating to ongoing queries and actions taken to recover outstanding invoices.• Manage credit limits in conjunction with third-party credit insurance broker and the in house team. Reporting up to management and reps where overlimit trading is occurring providing information for decisions for resolution. • Build relationships with sales teams, customers, and other key stakeholders to ensure credit control objectives are met while maintaining excellent customer relationships and enhancing the customer experience.• Assist with calculation of bad debt provision using company policy; create reporting on debtors, debtor days and performance against targets.• Collate documentation for bad debt write-offs, including the provision of detailed background information leading to the delinquent debt.• Ensure cash is allocated in a timely fashion and discrepancies are addressed promptly.• Progress legal action as appropriate to minimise losses and bad debts, manage customer queries which are preventing payment and resolve in a timely manner in conjunction with the customer service team.• Manage amendments to customer master data via any master data team, in accordance with agreed controls.• Process invoices relating to Promotional Sales, Marketing Fees, Customer Complaints etc which customers raise as deductions from payments. • Meet financial, performance, and quality targets as set by the Accounts Receivable Manager Key Deliverables: • Work with colleagues to ensure effective operation of credit control part of the Order to Cash (O2C) process and to ensure strategic objectives are met as set by the SSC Manager• Ensure credit control & receivable controls operate effectively and are assist with regular testing for relevance, efficiency, and effectiveness. • Liaise with auditors where appropriate to provide information or assist with walk throughs of credit controls processes. • Ensure risks relating to credit are raised, mitigated, and resolved appropriately.• Ensure compliance with GDPR and other legislation relating to debt collection.• Senior Credit Controller role will contain elements of running the team and tasks.• Understand the day-to-day workload of the Credit Control Manager to adequately manage in the event of any absence.• To support the Credit Control Manager with establishing team working standards and processes, building relationship internally and externally to facilitate collection of outstanding amounts., motivating, training, mentoring to ensure team skills.
