Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in an alternative provision setting. This school provides education for students aged 11-16 who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion. Many students face barriers to learning, including low confidence, gaps in education, and challenging behaviour.

Job Requirements for this Teaching Assistant role:
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and challenging behaviour
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and support students in making positive choices
  • Experience providing 1:1 support and working with non-verbal students
  • Knowledge of Makaton or other alternative communication methods (preferred)
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach
  • Commitment to helping students build resilience and confidence in their learning

This role involves working closely with students who may struggle with attendance, engagement, and self-belief in education. The school is dedicated to removing barriers and supporting students in achieving their potential.
