Phoenix is a multi-cultural 11-19 secondary school, serving 1,965 students in the north of West Bromwich close to the border with Walsall in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students.Over recent years examination results have continued to improve which is reflected in our 2024 value added figure of +0.17 published by the DFE. This is expected to be further enhanced in 2025 with an EBacc cohort now approaching 40%. You will have a confident understanding of the curriculum and the ability to inspire excellent learning.We currently offer two pathways at KS4, OCR GCSE Computer Science and Pearson BTEC Tech Awards Digital Information Technology (2022), at KS5 we offer OCR A level Computer Science and Pearson BTEC Level 3 ICT. The department has 5 dedicated ICT suites, which is running the latest Office software and other applications.The ideal candidate will be educated to a degree level in Computer Science or a closely related subject, with a track record of excellent teaching in Computing. Experience in teaching BTEC courses would be advantageous but not essential.As a school we have a fabulous CPD offer to support colleagues at whatever point in their career they are, from our ITT to our senior leaders.
