Are you a dedicated, confident person, who wants to combine their passion for working with children and working in the outdoors? Long - term Teachers are working with an independent special school, registered for 32 students aged 11 to 18 with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties which opened in April 2009.

Key Tasks:

  • To plan, prepare and deliver high quality outdoor and off site activities, liaising with teaching staff and SLT as required.
  • To set clear targets for pupils’ learning and progress, building on prior attainment and considering each pupil as an individual.
  • To have regard for the special educational needs of pupils
  • To assess pupil work and progress giving regular feedback in line with school policy
  • To maintain a stimulating, engaging and safe learning environment, managing behaviour in line with school policy.
  • To prepare and keep up to date the relevant Risk Assessments.
  • To carry out duties with full regard to the school’s Health and Safety procedures.
  • To undertake such additional responsibilities as required.

About you:

  • GCSE Grade 4 in English and Maths or equivalent
  • A willingness to participate in training where learning needs are identified
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Experience of supporting or delivering outdoor learning
  • Full drivers license
  • The ability to inspire confidence and commitment from and to motivate young people
  • The ability to effectively and positively manage
  • challenging behaviour
  • The ability to remain professional and composed in the face of challenging behaviour
  • High levels of motivation, commitment and enthusiasm

Commencing as soon as possible, this will be a full time, permanent placement, where you will contracted to work 8:45am - 4:45pm, term time only.
