About the opportunity;This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR leader to join the leadership team within this growing business in Wetherby.  The Head of HR will develop and lead the people strategy, enabling the organisation to achieve it's growth plans through the attraction, development and retention of talent within the organisation.  Reporting into the CEO, the Head of HR will operate as a trusted advisor to the leadership team and lead on all people related activity across the UK business.This is a full time role based from their site in Wetherby 4 days a week.Key responsibilities include;Reporting into the CEO and working closely with the SLT, the Head of HR will oversee all people related matters (including governance, payroll, policies and compliance) and help to take the business on the next phase of its journey.Key elements of the role include;
  • Be a proactive HR leader and work with key stakeholders across the senior management team to develop and implement a people strategy to support the commercial and financial objectives of the business.
  • Proactively develop strong working relationships with key internal / external stakeholders, including the Executive Team to promote good employee relations and build the capability of the HR function.
  • Acting as the most senior level of HR support in the business and be a trusted expert on all HR matters.
  • Maintain Business Partnering relationships to provide integrated HR solutions and driving high performance within the team. 
  • Coach and drive HR and Payroll team members on key policies, processes and approaches, providing guidance and supporting personal development.
  • Proactively identify training needs and career development plans within the business, working with line managers to ensure effective talent pipelines and successions plans are in place. 
  • Developing people strategies to make the organisation a great place to work, driving the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion agenda.
  • Support and develop management capability through skills and capability development. 
  • Oversee all complex ER issues and advise leadership on areas of risk.
Ideal candidate experience;Our client is looking to appoint a high calibre HR leader who is used to working in a highly commercial and multi-faceted organisation.  Candidates must demonstrate they are able to build strong relationships across all areas and levels of the business understand the business challenges.  They will have strong leadership skills and be confident in running an experienced team and developing their future potential.  As well as being a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of business operations, candidates must be comfortable in a truly operational generalist role with a high number of operational issues to oversee.Knowledge, skills and abilities include;
  • Expert knowledge of employment best practice and legislation.
  • Expert knowledge of ER processes and procedures.
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritise own work load and workload others to achieve HR Objectives, keeping professional when under pressure and working without supervision.
  • Demonstrable ability to challenge and influence constructively at all levels. 
  • Demonstrate creative thinking and an innovative approach to projects / tasks.
  • Pace, energy and enthusiasm with demonstrable ability to think and deliver at speed
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and work with limited evidence.
  • Excellent IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint and experience of a range of HR systems.
