Mechanical Fitter - Nuclear

Astute's Nuclear team is partnering with a international leader in the nuclear energy industry to recruit Mechanical Technicians/Fitters for its Cranfield site.

The critical Mechanical Fitters role comes with a salary up to 40,000, enhanced pension and private health care.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Engineering Production Manager you will:

• Be responsible for the building of test rigs, assisting the project team in technical queries and problem solving.
• Utilise engineering diagrams to identify and plan build works.
• Support with bid preparation by sharing relevant information with engineering team.
• Providing machining, and engineering fitting services to areas within the business.
• Support the wider team in general maintenance and required works
• Share ideas for continuous improvement across the business.
• Support and mentor junior members of the team in their development.
• Any other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• A Mechanical fitting, machining or fabrication apprenticeship or equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in maintenance or production role.
• Additional training in safety, forklift truck, rigging or enclosed spaces would be advantageous

Personal skills

The Mechanical Fitter role would suit someone who is:

• Experienced in fitting mechanical components
• Computer literate
• Has good communication and contributes to team goals
