Role Overview:

As a Classroom Support Worker, you will play a vital role in our specialist SEND provision in Whitehaven, working with students who have a range of complex needs. You will help students engage in their learning, provide support in the classroom, and contribute to their overall development. Alongside assisting in lessons, youll also support students during playtime and on off-site visits, ensuring their safety, inclusion, and growth both inside and outside the classroom.


Key Responsibilities:

-Classroom Support: Work with students to help them engage with their learning in a meaningful way, adapting activities and approaches to suit individual needs.
-Playground Support: Ensure the safety and well-being of students during outdoor activities, encouraging positive social interactions and inclusion.
-Off-Site Visits: Support students during regular off-site excursions, providing guidance and ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
-Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and other staff to develop individualized support plans that help each student thrive.
-Role Model: Provide a patient, proactive, and empathetic approach, offering encouragement and helping students to build confidence and independence.


Ideal Candidate:

-Experience working with SEND, whether with children or adults, and understand the importance of personalised support.
-A background in care or as a teaching assistant is highly beneficial.
-A relevant care or teaching assistant qualification.
-Compassionate, adaptable, and patientsomeone who truly wants to make a positive impact in the lives of SEND learners.
-Classroom experience is advantageous, but your enthusiasm and willingness to learn are what matter most.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
