Are you a talented Design Engineer with expertise in injection moulding? We’re hiring on behalf of a renowned manufacturing company in Whitstable for a 6-month contract role, with the potential for further opportunities. This is an exciting chance to apply your skills and knowledge to support immediate production needs and drive engineering improvements.

The Role:

As a Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the team to resolve ongoing production arrears by investigating ISIR moulding failures, updating drawings, and improving tooling designs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Addressing ISIR Failures: Investigate moulding failures and implement updates to drawings to ensure manufacturability and improve production.
  • Tooling and Process Improvement: Review existing tooling and process designs, identifying and executing enhancements to optimise performance and efficiency.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and cross-functional teams to provide expert advice on moulding processes, materials, and tooling design.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Support DFM (Design for Manufacture) and tooling design for new products, ensuring seamless integration into production.
  • Material Advisory: Offer guidance on alternative materials for obsolete or hard-to-source components.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience with plastic and/or rubber injection moulding processes.
  • Strong skills in tooling design and process optimisation.
  • Expertise in quality tools such as APQP and DFM, with a focus on manufacturability.
  • Ability to work efficiently to deliver fast corrective actions and document results.
