Are you a creative and driven Design Engineer looking for your next challenge? Our client, an innovative leader in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their talented engineering team in Whitstable. This is a great opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, develop new products, and bring your ideas to life in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CAD Modelling & Drafting: Utilise 3D CAD software to produce high-quality models and engineering drawings to company standards.
  • Development Cycle Involvement: Participate in various stages of the product development cycle, from brief to concept, proof of principle, testing, and finalisation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a core team of engineers, product management, and production personnel to ensure the successful development of best-in-class products.
  • Design & Development: Contribute to the development and building of proof-of-principle models, as well as the design and construction of test rigs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, offering guidance and advice on design, manufacturing, and project management.
  • Project Documentation: Maintain issue control and Bill of Materials (BOM) for all parts and projects, ensuring timely updates.
  • Problem Solving: Provide corrective actions to address shop floor queries and non-conformances.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to Health and Safety rules and follow company quality procedures and standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Essential:
    • BEng or BSc in an engineering or science discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical preferred)
    • At least 2 years of experience in a multidisciplinary environment, with a focus on design or production disciplines.
    • Proficiency in CAD software, knowledge of Inventor 3D would be an advantage.
    • Proven experience in successfully developing new products within time, cost, and specification constraints.
    • Familiarity with Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and lean manufacturing methodologies.
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience working within a regulated industry, especially in the design of safety/life-critical products.
    • Familiarity with electronics and electrical systems.
    • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and geometric tolerancing.
