Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Widnes-based single-form entry primary school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic teaching assistant for a full-time temporary contract. This is a 1:1 position supporting a pupil in Year 2 with ADHD and behavioural needs.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting the Year 2 class and supporting a pupil within the class on a 1:1 basis. As you will be supporting ADHD and behavioural needs, you will be required to build a strong constructive relationship with your pupils as to ensure that they reach their full academic potential and to closely monitor their behaviour and emotional state. You will implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies to promote their learning and engagement, including "Now & Next", playing games to retain focus, distraction, and regulation. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in all core subjects and liaise with the class teacher to ensure that all sessions are in line with their attainment needs. In the event that their behaviours escalate, you will take them out of the classroom as to ensure that they are in a safe space and give them time to burn off steam before re-engaging.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience within a relevant post in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience supporting ADHD and/or behavioural needs
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies/positive behaviour promotion
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is advantageous but not essential
