Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Widnes-based single-form entry primary school as they require a motivated and experienced teaching assistant to support the EYFS and KS1 classes. This is a long-term full-time contract starting after the February half-term.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school you will be supporting the reception, year 1 and year 2 classes. You will work alongside the class teacher to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment by utilising all learning equipment and building a strong constructive relationship with your new pupils. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in all core subjects as well as intense interventions on a 1:1 basis in numeracy and literacy within a separate classroom. As you will be working across EYFS and KS1 you will offer phonics sessions and assessments to your new pupils and deliver sessions to promote pupils' social and emotional development. A small number of pupils in the year 1 class can at times become disruptive and present non-aggressive behaviour. You will implement a myriad of positive behaviour techniques to support them.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience working within a EYFS and/or KS1 class, as well as:

  • Experience delivering phonics sessions and assessments
  • Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
