We now have the opportunity for an exceptional Applications Specialist to join our team in Wigan.

  • To assist the Technical Manager with all technical support activities in EMEA region and globally where requested/required.
  • The postholder will have, or be able to develop, an in-depth knowledge of product applications, chemistry &/or engineering and the interaction of products with offshore equipment.
  • The postholder will have working knowledge and preferably hands on skills relating to hydraulic equipment, their components and operation.
  • Focus will be obtaining, managing and maintaining Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) approvals for products (current & future).
  • In addition to onsite duties, the postholder will travel nationally, internationally, and offshore to provide first class technical support.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will:

  • Provide front-line technical support to EMEA customers, advising on product capabilities and applications.
  • Communicate professionally with global customers through reports, emails, and telephone.
  • Network with key technical contacts at operators and equipment manufacturers.
  • Liaise with Global Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on test protocols and operations.
  • Manage non-routine technical services projects, including materials testing, and produce high-quality reports upon completion.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to revise international standards related to our products and applications.
  • Devise, plan, perform, and report on non-routine technical services projects involving physical and chemical analysis of products, customer complaints, and compatibility of fluids.
  • Perform routine tests as part of the Fluid Monitoring Program, acting as an approver and advisor for main and satellite laboratories in the region.
  • Present confidently at customer training sessions on topics like fluid cleanliness awareness.
  • Offer insights and ad-hoc assistance to QC and R&D teams as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of risks and health & safety related to raw materials, finished goods, and equipment.
  • Be willing to carry out additional duties as required.

Who are You?

We are looking for individuals who have been educated to Degree level in Chemisty or Engineering related discipline, with A Levels in Science or Science related subjects.

Ideally we are looking for candidates with more than two years industry and / or laboratory experience.

Extensive knowledge of product portfolio, including chemistry and applications of drilling and production control equipment. Skilled in planning, executing, troubleshooting, and completing non-routine tasks independently. Proficient in lab techniques, calibration, and method development. Expert in testing water-based hydraulic fluids.

Business Acumen:

Deep understanding of the offshore business. Proficient in communicating with SMEs on application-related topics. Strong relationships with key customers, facilitating effective issue resolution. Regularly author technical reports, papers, and presentations.

Communication Skills:

Professional and responsible communication with internal and external customers. Effective in discussing fluid, component, and equipment testing and analysis. Confidently present to peers and customers.

Creativity:

Trusted to plan, execute, and report on complex projects. Capable of collaborative problem-solving and proactive initiative.

Results Orientation:

Excellent organisational skills, managing multiple complex projects. Set high performance standards and consistently complete tasks diligently.
