About the NPD Technologist job

The purpose of your role will be to support the NPD Manager with the development and innovation of products, liaising with all departments to ensure products and services are supplied within agreed specifications whilst keeping up to date with key development trends within the food industry as well as developing and maintaining excellent relationships with customers, external contacts, and colleagues.

Key tasks

  • Create ideas for future trends from internal and external briefs in line with the business strategy.
  • Prepare recipes and action plans with the NPD Manager using nutritional information and specifications.
  • Prepare bench scale samples, review with customers, and organise shipment.
  • Contribute to HACCP and hygiene, GMP for the site and NPD and organise and lead factory trials.

About You

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in food science or a related role, with strong knowledge of ingredient functionality, food processes, HACCP protocols, and hands-on experience in product development, research, and testing of new food products.
  • Proven ability to present ideas, products, and trends effectively to diverse stakeholders, along with strong interpersonal skills that facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams and customer interactions.
  • Creativity in generating innovative ideas to meet customer needs, combined with attention to detail for precise documentation and a proactive approach to resolving challenges within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to continuously monitor market trends and emerging opportunities to inform product development and strategic planning for new initiatives.

The NPD Technologist job (ref:8840) is based in Wigan and is paying £28,000 - £30,000 per annum and offers a great benefits package.

The site is in Wigan, Greater Manchester and is commutable from Manchester, Bolton, Warrington, Preston, Ormskirk, St Helens, Chorley and Bury, along with other areas of Lancashire and Merseyside.
