IT Support Engineer

Our client is a privately owned, dynamic business, focused on providing home appliance solutions to retailers, consumers and business to business customers. Due to continued growth now have an excellent opportunity for an IT Support Engineer to join their team in Wigan.

Duties include:

  • Provide technical support for users of the companies IT systems.
  • To monitor, maintain, and support all PCG hardware, software and peripherals.
  • To resolve IT related faults, as part of IT team.
  • To contribute towards the completion of IT Departmental projects and achievement of IT Departmental objectives.
  • To undertake miscellaneous activities/project work deemed appropriate for the role of IT Support Engineer to support the efficient operation.
  • To support systems on-site in Wigan, by a mix of on-site and remote working, plus occasional visits to other company locations.

Helpdesk Support:

  • Track, prioritise and document User queries using the management system
  • Provide helpdesk support via e-mail/phone/in person (to Users) for tickets
  • Assess, diagnose and resolve User software/ hardware queries, escalating to colleagues and/or external parties when necessary,

IT Systems:

  • Set-up and configure new computers, laptops, other IT equipment and business authorised software in-line with company policy on access and security.
  • Monitoring infrastructure to anticipate and address problems and performance issues. (including network devices, servers, printers and cloud services)
  • Monitor printer quality / printer consumable levels within the business to ensure maximum performance and minimal down-time.

Telecommunications:

  • Support with the set up and maintenance of all telecommunication systems to ensure they are functioning effectively and efficiently in-line with SOP's.

Networks:

  • Maintain and administration all IT systems to ensure they are functioning effectively.

Skills / experience required:

  • Experience or training on software testing and implementation
  • An understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration
  • Knowledge of LAN, WAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP
  • Microsoft Windows 10 (essential)
  • Microsoft Windows 11 (desirable)
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (essential)
  • Microsoft Windows Server management (desirable)
  • macOS knowledge (desirable)
  • Mobile device support - iOS and Android (desirable)
