Zachary Daniels have an exciting opportunity to join a successful and well established organisation based in Wigan for a Purchasing Coordinator/ Stock controller.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in delivering exceptional levels of customer service and innovation, contributing to the success of their worldwide development activities.

Purchasing Coordinator Job duties:

The Purchasing Co-ordinator will be key to ensuring that all aspects of purchasing, stock control, and shipping are effectively managed and aligned with project budgets and timescales. The role requires strong attention to detail, effective supplier relationship management, and the ability to monitor and control inventory levels to support business needs.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure smooth procurement processes.
  • Purchase Order Management: Raise purchase orders with sufficient detail to ensure costs are correctly allocated to the appropriate projects/accounts.
  • Inventory and Stock Control: Monitor and forecast inventory levels, raise supplier orders for stock replenishment, and ensure the timely delivery of project-related stock.
  • Pricing & Margins: Monitor pricing to ensure revenue and profit margins are maintained.
  • Import/Export Compliance: Ensure all import/export requirements are met, and documentation is accurate and compliant with regulations.
  • Supplier Records & CRM Management: Maintain accurate supplier records and review data in the CRM system.
  • Prioritisation: Prioritise workload across long-lead and real-time demands, ensuring that project timelines are met.
  • Stocktakes & Business Process Support: Assist in implementing stocktakes and other business processes to optimise stock control.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure procurement needs are met efficiently.
  • Project Support: Attend project handovers and kick-off meetings to provide detailed information on costs, delivery schedules, and shipping options.
  • Goods Receiving: Ensure that all deliveries are checked upon receipt, and claims for short deliveries or damaged stock are promptly submitted.
Purchasing Coordinator Skills:
  • Previous experience in a similar purchasing or procurement role is preferred, ideally within a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of pricing strategies and how they affect profit margins.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Positive, encouraging personality with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload across both long-lead and real-time demands, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with purchase orders, stock levels, and supplier data.
  • Aptitude for identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Independent and self-driven with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Highly motivated, reliable, and trustworthy individual with a strong work ethic.
