We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to work within the Commercial department. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Trainee Quantity Surveyor will assist in the provision of quantity surveying services under the direction of the Commercial Team and train as a Quantity Surveyor.

With our rapid growth and continued development, we are looking to continue to grow our teams, for a variety of Social Housing projects across the North West

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven individual who is keen to learn and willing to be flexible to work within our small and experienced Commercial team.

Duties

Working as part of a team, as a trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will work towards independently carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Provide quantity surveying services under the direction of the Commercial Manager
  • Preparing tender and contract Documents
  • Allocating work to subcontractors
  • Identifying Commercial Risk
  • Prepare the project procurement schedule
  • Undertake commercial functions of the projects assigned to you, maintaining strong relationships with the client & site teams
  • Make Client applications against project bill of quantities
  • Maintain commercial project folders
  • Carry out site visits to establish progress
  • Attend client meetings to ensure commercial presence throughout the project
  • Review weekly costs for anomalies
  • Ensure subcontracts are placed prior to commencement of work
  • Ensure commercial governance procedures are followed
  • Issue contract early warning and valuation of variations
  • Provide project forecast both internally and externally to the client
  • Assist the contracts manager with any disputes and progress to resolution

Skills and Qualifications

  • Good standard of education with excellent numerical skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite particularly Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Used to working to strict deadlines
  • You will also require a full UK driving licence
