SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Leicester (LE7)
Contract: Long-term to permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am- 3:30pm
Start Date: 28th April onwards

Long Term Futures is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded education setting that supports students aged 4-16 with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). This role is perfect for those with a sports background who want to use their skills to engage students needing extra support. While this is primarily a classroom-based role, there are opportunities to incorporate sports-based activities into learning and behaviour support when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage in learning.
- Develop positive behaviour through structured sports activities and other interactive sessions.
- Assist students in managing emotions by implementing targeted support strategies.
- Offer both emotional and physical support, creating a safe and encouraging learning environment.
- Work closely with a skilled team to ensure students receive well-rounded support.
- Develop and implement effective behaviour management techniques to support long-term student success.
What We're Looking For:
- A sports, PE, or coaching background, with a passion for working with young people.
- Experience working with SEN or challenging behaviours in education settings or similar.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- A proactive and resilient attitude, acting as a strong role model.
