Ascent Recruitment is pleased to support a fantastic South Manchester based business searching for a Management Accountant to join a small finance team, with a great culture, in a growing business.

Working alongside a fantastic Head of Finance and excellent Finance Director, this role will suit either an Assistant Management Accountant/Assistant Accountant looking to step up, or a Management Accountant looking for a new challenge.

The successful candidate can be a studier, part qualified, or QBE and study support will be offered, if required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end results, including month-end files, journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and commentary.
  • Support the creation of cost centre reporting packs and variance analysis for the business.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring daily maintenance.
  • Reconcile company credit card expenditures.
  • Compile weekly Bad Debt reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly commission calculations.
  • Prepare the quarterly VAT return.
  • Aid in the annual audit process.
  • Provide insightful reporting and support with ad-hoc analyses and projects.

Skills and attributes:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Enthusiastic about learning new skills and embracing challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Able to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Committed to continuous improvement
  • Previous experience working in an SME preferred
