Role Responsibilities
  • Managing a portfolio of VAT clients, ensuring deadlines are met, work is completed within budget, and final reviews are efficient
  • Providing high-level VAT advisory services, covering a wide range of complex issues and sectors, with a strong focus on property and NFP clients
  • Reviewing VAT returns and assumptions prepared by compliance specialists before submission to HMRC
  • Handling HMRC interactions, including VAT inspections, disputes, and penalty considerations
  • Advising on international VAT matters, particularly where businesses operate in multiple jurisdictions
  • Reviewing contracts to ensure correct VAT treatment and drafting VAT-related clauses
  • Leading VAT health checks, assurance reviews, and audits to identify risks and opportunities for clients
  • Working closely with internal teams and managing internal referrals, ensuring seamless client service
  • Providing VAT training and technical updates, both internally and externally

Candidate Requirements
  • AAT Bookkeeping qualification preferred, with extensive bookkeeping experience required
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting software
  • Experience preparing VAT returns and reconciling accounts
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with clients professionally and efficiently
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively
