As the Lead Engineer, you will report to the IPT Engineering Manager and take responsibility for technically leading and coordinating engineering projects, including new product introductions, modifications/upgrades to in-service products, and through-life support. This role acts as the vital link between the customer and Eaton's wider technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead large-scale engineering projects or multiple smaller ones.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to Project Engineers.
  • Plan and manage engineering tasks, internal functions, and develop engineering management plans.
  • Engage with customers to ensure solutions align with their expectations, and clearly communicate these expectations to internal teams.
  • Organize and present engineering design gate reviews, collaborating with key internal functions such as airworthiness and safety to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Execute all phases of the system lifecycle, including requirements management, validation, system design, development, integration, verification, and qualification in accordance with Eaton's processes and customer specifications.
  • Manage engineering changes to ensure system integrity and traceability of key design decisions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership and program management teams to ensure projects are appropriately resourced and identify any potential capability shortfalls.

Skills and Experience Requied:

  • Proven experience in an Aerospace or Defence engineering role.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interface with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and within teams to resolve issues.
  • Extensive experience across the engineering lifecycle, including design reviews.
  • Ability to present technical content confidently at all levels within the organization.
  • Experience in technical report writing.
  • Experience in either indirect or direct management.
  • Previous experience in providing engineering sign-off for documents is advantageous but not required.
  • Experience working with project management in the generation of schedules is beneficial.
