About the Company:
Our Client provides a service within Property and Civil Engineering for several Local Authorities whilst being attached to one specific LA.
About the Role:
We are looking for two Civil Engineers or Technicians who have Drainage experience on highways.

Responsibilities:

  • To propose solutions, agree modifications and prepare designs for highway schemes from inception through to detailed design to permit implementation.
  • To prepare contract documents, to ensure the construction of works on site to programme and within project budget. To provide technical support throughout construction period.
  • To plan and programme the activities and resources for small or non-complex schemes and thereafter implement, monitor and control progress to achieve completion to programme.
  • To prepare estimates, monitor and review project costs, including works and fees of internal and external consultants, to ensure completion within agreed budgets.
  • Give due consideration to Health and Safety and sustainability in identifying design solutions.
  • Liaising and negotiating with a wide range of professional, including developers, consultants, planners and solicitors when working on the assessment of Section 38 and 278 agreement submissions.
  • Design checking detailed Section 38 and S278 Agreement submissions from developers and their consultants for compliance with policies, standards and specifications and to fully assess the suitability for adoption as publicly maintainable highway.


Qualifications:
RQF Level 4-6 in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Required Skills:

  • Experience in the design and construction of highway, infrastructure and Civil Engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant specifications, policies and procedures required for the role.
  • Competent user of CAD software (Civil 3D, MX, AutoCAD etc.)



Preferred Skills:

  • Highway Drainage Design to DMRB for ETE project work
  • LLFA/ S278/S38/S106 experience both in design and checking of designs as part of a mixed project/ HDA/ LLFA workload
  • Foul and Surface Water Drainage Design to Building Regulations/ Sewers for Adoption (Sewage Industry Guidance) for Development project work
  • Specialist design of small packaged sewage treatment plants and drainage fields/ mounds/ outfalls would be a desirable skill
  • Flood modelling (Pluvial/ Fluvial) would be a desirable skill
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD/Civils 3D or Causeway Live/PDS, and have experience of writing contracts in SHW (Highways England) and/or NBS formats.
  • Highway design skills in use of Manual for Streets/ DMRB.
