My client are seeking a Senior Stress Engineer to join our multi-disciplined engineering team, supporting the delivery of major projects. This role is pivotal in executing design analysis to ensure that engineering outputs meet quality, schedule, and budget requirements. Reporting directly to the Engineering Lead, the Senior Stress Engineer will be the internal focal point for design analysis, both completed internally and by subcontractors.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide scheduling and issuing task information to Lead Engineers, Project Engineering Managers, and Project Managers to support project delivery.
  • Work closely with design engineers to ensure designs are fit for purpose, identifying design solutions to address problems highlighted by structural analysis.
  • Conduct analysis of engineering designs, primarily through hand calculations, supplemented with Finite Element analysis (FEA) as needed, across multiple projects.
  • Author and/or check design analysis documentation.
  • Influence designs during conceptual and scheme stages to ensure structural integrity, considering improvements such as design for manufacture and cost reduction.
  • Communicate and liaise with external clients, suppliers, and other third parties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer status (IMechE, IET) is preferred.
  • Demonstrable track record in stress analysis and hand calculation using Mathcad.
  • Strong working knowledge of BS EN 13001, BS 2573 parts 1&2, and Eurocode 3.
  • Ability to review and interrogate mechanical designs to determine all inputs required for design analysis.
